Welcome to our website...

Welcome to our dental health website. We have an exciting range of information and resources on dental health. All our information is based on the latest scientific evidence base so that you know that it is sound and accurate.

This website in managed and supported by the Liverpool Dental Health Promotion Department, part of LIverpool Community Health NHS Trust.

This website aims to provide useful information on dental health both for the general public and health professionals. Since first developing this website a few years ago, we have been pleased to see the work of the primary dental care team focus more on the provision of preventive dental care and advice. We hope that the information and resources available through this site will be helpful to colleagues working in general dental practice as well as those of you who have supported dental health programmes in local communities over the years.

Good dental health is important. Good dental health enables us to speak, eat and socialise with confidence. This is important for all age groups. However the impact of oral conditions in the North West of England is high - we still see many young children suffering the effects of dental decay and many adults losing teeth because of gum disease. Oral cancer is also a concern - with generally low awareness of the risk factors and cases not being detected at an early stage.

Many of the factors causing oral health problems, like diet and smoking are risk factors for many other conditions. A joined up approach is needed to improve oral and general health. Providing clear, robust and consistent health information is part of this.

We would welcome feedback on how to improve the website and any other areas that you would like to see. You can contact us via the following email address:
